Hatidze, the last female wild bee-hunter in Europe, understands the natural balance that must occur between nature and mankind. When a family of nomadic farmers invade her land and threaten her livelihood, the tensions between sustainability and exploitation is exposed in Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefanov's exquisitely photographed documentary.
Debut documentarians Ljubo Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska spent more than three years with Hatidze, who provided the filmmaker's remarkable access to her life, resulting in a film that feels intimate, collaborative and unguarded. Gently funny but full of dramatic moments, it’s a poignant snapshot of a fragile balancing act – between humankind and the natural world, past and present, sustainability and exploitation.
