The Czech and Slovak Association of WA is proud to announce the long-awaited return of the Czech and Slovak Film Festival of WA! Don’t miss the 4th celebration of Czech and Slovak cinema, screening at Luna Leederville 22- 25 November.
The motto of our festival is “Full of stories” and 2018 is set to be a special year that more than lives up to this. 2018 commemorates many momentous anniversaries of the Czech and Slovak history. We are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia, and more than 100 years of the Czech and Slovak brotherhood, which lasts even though it has been exactly a quarter-century since Czechoslovakia split up.
Making this year's screenings even more special, every feature film will be preceded by a short film made by ECU film students or an animated bedtime story.
And finally, every festival visitor has a chance to win one of our fabulous prizes from our awesome sponsors. The main prize is 2 nights for 2 in OK Divers & Spa in Bali. The more films you see, the higher the chance of being drawn!
OPENING NIGHT EVENT
We would love to invite to the Opening Night of the festival, where we will celebrate the 4th Czech and Slovak Film Festival of WA and more importantly the 100 years’ anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia and more than 100 years of Czech and Slovak brotherhood.
Join us on 22nd November for a screening of a great movie The Hastrman, a love thriller and mysterious drama about Hastrman – a traditional Czech creature – a water spirit. There will be a complimentary drink on arrival, Czech and Slovak finger food and music for you to enjoy! The event begins at 6:15pm, with the film starting at 6:45pm.
CLOSING NIGHT EVENT
Celebrate and enjoy the last evening of the festival with Czech and Slovak refreshments, great music and an Australian premiere!
In an Australian premiere, we will screen Jan Palach, a tale of one ultimate self-scarifying act in a hopeless time. The message of the movie is timeless and it will always remind us where the Totality Regime can push us and what sensible people can be capable of in extreme conditions. The event begins at 6:00pm, with the film starting at 6:30pm.
Just before the movie, Audience Prizes will be drawn. So, come, bring your friends, and make the Sunday 25th November absolutely unforgettable.
All films are screened with English subtitles and only once, so don't miss your chance and book your tickets now!
Ticket prices: Opening Night $35; Closing Night $25; General tickets: Adults $19.50; Concession (student, seniors/pension, Privilege Card Member $16)
